On June 14, BTS announced that they will be taking a hiatus from group activities to focus on their individual activities.
At 9 PM KST on this day, BTS uploaded a video titled “Real BTS Dinner’ on their official YouTube channel BANGTANTV.
The band thanked their fans, and urged them to think of this as a necessary step for the group: “I hope you don’t see this as a negative thing, and see it as a healthy plan,” J-Hope said. “I think BTS will become stronger that way.”
Along with discussing their future individual ventures — things are already in the works for J-Hope, Suga and Jungkook — they reflected on their many accomplishments.
BTS explained that the anthology album ‘Proof’ will mark the end of season 1 of BTS group activities. After the release of the ‘Real BTS Dinner’ video, the group will be entering their hiatus.
But a statement from Hybe, the South Korean entertainment company behind BTS, said they’ll still be working on projects as a group, as well as individually. “BTS are not taking a hiatus. Members will be focusing more on solo projects at this time,” the statement said.
